Located near the famous Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, Pinnawala Zoo (also known as Pinnawala Open Zoo) is one of Sri Lanka’s newest wildlife attractions. It offers a peaceful, family-friendly experience where visitors can see a variety of native and exotic animals in spacious, naturalistic enclosures.

Pinnawala Zoo is situated in Pinnawala, Rambukkana, in the Kegalle District of Sri Lanka—just a short walk from the Elephant Orphanage. It’s easily accessible from Colombo and Kandy.

Pinnawala Zoo is open daily, including weekends and public holidays:

• Monday to Sunday: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

We recommend visiting early in the morning or late in the afternoon for cooler weather and more active animals.
